About the Photo Ark


The National Geographic Photo Ark is a multiyear effort

that aims to photograph every species living in the world's

zoos and wildlife sanctuaries, inspire action through

education and help save wildlife by supporting 

on-the-ground conservation projects.

National Geographic Photo Ark at Jacksonville Zoo and Gardens


Through the generosity of

Jennifer and Joseph Duke and Joseph and Renate Hixon, 

the Zoo and Gardens is excited to share the acclaimed 

National Geographic Photo Ark exhibit with the community. 


Beginning November 17 through March 1, 2020, the exhibit

will be presented throughout the Zoo so that all guests can enjoy 

these amazing images and Photo Ark story.

The Jacksonville Zoo and Gardens is excited to present, in partnership with the University of North Florida, National Geographic Photo Ark Founder and Photographer Joel Sartore. During this one-hour engagement, Joel will share stories of Photo Ark species endemic to our area and his journey and passion in creating the Photo Ark.
